Who is this course for?

This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to make decisions about the safety of occupants during a facility emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to an emergency incident. It includes leading the preparation of facility emergency response procedures; commanding, controlling and coordinating facility emergency response procedures and responses and concluding the facility emergency incident. Individuals who undertake this work may also act as the primary liaison with emergency services after their arrival.

This course is often provided to a member of the Emergency Control Organisation, Security Officers, Event Managers and Facility Managers. There is no licensing for this course however this unit may form part of the licensing requirements for persons engaged in security operations in those states and territories where these are regulated activities.

What qualifications will I receive?

At the successful completion of the training program, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification PUAFER006 - Lead an emergency control organisation. This course does not expire however a 3-year refresher is recommended.

Eligibility and Prerequisites

  • All candidates must complete the prerequisite training PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
  • All candidates must supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Available at www.usi.gov.au.
  • All candidates must be either an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, NZ citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
  • All candidates must provide 100 points of Identification
  • Students must complete the online theory exam before attending.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered as mixed learning:

  • Online pre-learning and reading of 4 hours
  • Face-to-face training and assessment of 4 hours

Course Duration

The duration of this course is a minimum 8 hours.

Cost

$249. This includes all course materials, face-to-face training and assessment,equipment used as part of the training. There are no other fees associated with the training program. All fees must be paid in advance of training or assessments.
