Who is this course for?

This qualification is suitable for skilled operators who take on Work Health and Safety (WHS) responsibilities in addition to their main duties. They may provide technical advice and support to a team and apply a range of competencies in varied work contexts. The qualification would suit a candidate that is looking for careers as Safety Coordinators, Safety Officers, Health and Safety Representatives.

What qualifications will I receive?

At the successful completion of the training program, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification BSB30719 Certificate III in Work Health & Safety.

Core Units

  • BSBWHS307 Apply knowledge of WHS laws in the workplace
  • BSBWHS308 Participate in WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control processes
  • BSBWHS309 Contribute effectively to WHS communication and consultation processes
  • BSBWHS310 Contribute to WHS issue-resolution processes
  • BSBWHS331 Participate in identifying and controlling hazardous chemicals
  • PUAFER001 Identify, prevent and report potential facility emergency situations.

Elective Units - Mandatory

  • BSBCMM211 Apply communication skills
  • BSBWRT311 Write simple documents
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid

Elective Units - You may select any (2) units from the list below.

  • HLTAID001 Provide CPR
  • HLTINF001 Comply withinfection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTINFCOV001C omply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • PUAFER008 -Confine small emergencies in a facility.

Eligibility and Prerequisites

  • All candidates must supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Available at www.usi.gov.au.
  • All candidates must be either an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, NZ citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
  • All candidates must provide 100 points of Identification.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered as mixed learning:

  • Online learning, reading and assessment – homework and self-study
  • Face-to-face training and assessment over a (5) day period

Course Duration

Candidates have 1-year from enrolment to complete the program.

Cost

$1499. This includes: All course materials, face-to-face training and assessment, equipment used as part of the training. There are no other fees associated with the training program. All fees must be paid in advance of training or assessments.
